Sindici Art
Original abstract paintings & sculptures by Gregg Sindici
From the Artist, Gregg Sindici
I create both abstract acrylic paintings on wood panels and abstract metal sculptures.
My paintings reflect my own artistic curiosity. In many of them, I employ bold and vibrant colors to celebrate the sheer joy of life. In others, I use earth tones and heavy texture to mimic the beauty of nature. And in others still, I develop a much grittier composition to reflect aspects of the human condition. However, no matter the composition of the painting, my goal is “to make an image that is so simple you can’t avoid it, and so complicated you can’t figure it out”. [Alex Katz, American painter].
My sculptures are fabricated using mild steel and occasionally aluminum. When fabricating a sculpture, the challenge for me is to create an elegant form from a piece of raw intractable metal. To meet that challenge, I will alternately pursue a minimalist geometric form, introduce graceful curves to the metal, or pair the metal with natural stone to evoke a Zen like emotion. The goal is always to produce a sculptural piece that is simple and without pretense.
I work from my studio in Rancho Santa Fe, California. My art is exhibited regularly at both the Offtrack Gallery in Encinitas, California and the North Coastal Art Gallery in Carlsbad, California as well as other locations in the greater San Diego area.
